One of the rarest, most distinctively styled, and most sought after automobiles in history, meticulously replicated with the same passionate handcrafting that made the original an instant classic.
The only one of its kind in the world – available at an incredibly affordable price.
In 1956, the 507 Roadster was BMW’s stunningly dramatic entry into the growing European sports car market, stealing the world spotlight from Porsche, Mercedes, MG, Triumph, and Jaguar. Its profile, lines, and curves were almost sensuous in their elegant simplicity.
The BMW 507 Replica is a lovingly meticulous re-creation of the original, molded and patterned from an original chassis that was being restored, and painstakingly fitted with the accoutrements – from dashboard gauges to seats to windshield to convertible top – that do honor to its heritage and legacy.
The design, engineering, and performance features of the original BMW 507 Roadster were too distinctive – too revolutionary – for mass production. Each was individually hand-made and assembled to the highest standards of the industry. Each was its own unique creation – a commitment to distinction and perfection that proved to be its own undoing.
Only 254 were ever produced between 1956 and 1959 because the production costs pushed the price tag beyond levels that the even a relatively elite marketplace would bear. Elvis Presley bought one, which he later gifted to actress Ursula Andress. Motor sport legend John Surtees, Order of the British Empire, was another buyer. Others included international royalty, millionaires, and private collectors.
Today, it’s believed about 200 are still in existence. They are incredibly rare and understandably very valuable.
The BMW 507 Replica is the only one of its kind in existence.
This re-creation has been a decade-long mission for U.S. businessman, restoration expert, and car enthusiast Bill Ely. Originally retained to restore an actual production-model BMW 507 by an owner in Cleveland, OH – a challenge that involved replacing most of the original chassis – he salvaged parts, found difficult-to-find sources for other parts, researched, fabricated, rebuilt, and refined every feature to recapture the look, the feel, and the mystique of the iconic original.
Bill Ely has completed the mission and is placing his “replica” on the market so he can move on to other challenges and other adventures.
